*Theta Hazelnut
Theta and Eta are similar Hazelnut trees. They both have an upright habit, high resistance to disease (Eastern Filbert blight) and have very good rooting ability. Theta also has a later maturity into fall (September-October) compared to other varieties, making it an excellent choice for whitetail and wildlife. All three hazelnut varieties, Theta, Jefferson and Eta are complimentary for pollination. The picture shows our typical bare root hazelnut trees of 30-48” on average. Hazelnuts have a limited root system, therefore, they should be planted approximately 8” deep and allowed to grow the first year in order to become established. During the second year they should be cut back to 3 to 4’ in order to promote dense growth. Wildlife Species: Whitetail, Turkey.
Planting zones 5-8.
